Graham Masterton

After 35 years in which he established himself as one of the world’s bestselling horror authors, Graham Masterton has turned his hand to crime, creating the bestselling crime thriller series of novels featuring Katie Maguire, the first woman detective superintendent in An Garda Siochana, the Irish police force.  2020 sees THE LAST DROP OF BLOOD published which will be the final in the Katie Maguire series.  2020 will also see a new horror/supernatural standalone title published called HOUSE OF A HUNDRED WHISPERS.

THE MANITOU, his first horror novel, was turned into a film starring Tony Curtis in the lead role.  Three of Graham’s horror stories were adapted by the late Tony Scott for his TV series The Hunger.  Over the years he has published five collections of short stories, several of which have won awards.

Graham has written over 150 titles including short stories and sex instruction books, historical sagas such as RICH, MAIDEN VOYAGE and SOLITAIRE, as well as further thriller and disaster novels such as PLAGUE, FAMINE and DROUGHT.

Graham has written two historical crime thrillers SCARLET WIDOW and THE COVEN published in 2016 and 2017 respectively by Head of Zeus.

For the past thirteen years he has given his name to the prestigious Prix Masterton whch is awarded annually for the best French-language horror novel.  He has been the only non-French winner of Le Prix Julia Verlanger for a best-selling horror novel and he has also been given recognition by Mystery Writers of America, the British Fantasy Society and many others.

In 2017, after a visit to Wolow, the maximum security prison near Wroclaw in Southern Poland, Masterton set up the Graham Masterton Written In Prison Award for the inmates of all of Poland’s penal institutions to enter a short story contest.  The contest is now an annual event with the 2019 contest having taken place in September.  The contest is supported by the Polish Prison Service, the Wroclaw Agglomeration for Culture and Sport, both Rebis and Albatros publishing companies and Wroclaw Library.

In 2019 Masterton was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Horror Writers’ Association.
